Process
First your teacher will assign you one of the fifteen Winter Olympic sports.
Step 1: Tell about your sport.
Each student is responsible for completing all 3 areas below.
___________________________________________________________________________________________
Expert - You will be looking for information to fill out the Olympic Fact Sheet about your sport.
Advertiser - You will be creating an advertising campaign about your sport. Make it sound exciting and a good place to give the funding.
Historian - You will find information about your sport and write a history of it and its part in the Olympic games.

Step 2: Putting it all together.
After you have gathered the information you need to complete your task, you will put the information together for the final report.
The report will be done on the computer using Word, PhotoStory and PowerPoint and will consist of the following:
• A fact sheet with the information about your Olympic sport. A copy of the fact sheet is located at the bottom of the page. (40 points)
• A PhotoStory or Movie Maker commercial using images, text and other related graphics to display your sport. This will be your advertisement. Starbucks should not appear in your commercial. You are trying to "sell" your sport in hopes of earning a sponsorship from Starbucks. Remember, an advertisement can leave a lasting impression. Your commercial should be at least 30 seconds in length. Click here for rubric. (60 points)
• A 2 page typed letter (double-spaced, 12 point Times New Roman font) to Starbucks that includes a brief history of your sport. Your paper should tell the origins of the sport, how the sport has changed, how long has it has been an Olympic event and how has our country performed in this event. It should also include the rules of the sport and how the sport is judged at the Olympics. Finally, your letter should request that Starbucks donate funding for your sport. You can NOT simply cut and paste the information from your fact sheet. Furthermore, your letter should follow the proper letter format and be addressed to Starbucks.(100 points)
• A PowerPoint presentation bringing all of your research together. This presentation will be given to the executives of Starbucks and should not exceed 7 minutes. Your presentation should include all the information on your fact sheet, the commercial you created and information from your letter. Do not include your letter in the PowerPoint. The letter will be submitted separately. Click here for rubric. (200 points)
